Renew, a boutique hotel at the eastern end of Waikīkī in Honolulu, has completed a redesign and rebrand centered around local wellness. Formerly known as “Hotel Renew,” the 72-room property has been reimagined with updated guestrooms, corridors, lobby and lobby bar, in addition to new amenities and experiences designed to connect guests to the local wellness community.
Inspired by the natural colors of Hawai'i’s beaches and the simplicity of a modern apothecary, the updated interiors have an Earth tone palette of terra-cotta, rose quartz, ocean blues and sandy neutrals with sleek contrasts of black. To promote a calming environment, the design team used natural and refined materials, including custom-designed rattan furniture, American white oak paneling and deep lounge seating, creating a chic yet calming environment.
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a chilled, lemongrass-scented towel and glass of iced Mamaki tea by Tea Chest Hawai'i, a local therapeutic herbal tea with healing and detoxifying qualities.
The hotel’s new Wellness Concierge can direct guests to the Island’s best wellness-minded restaurants, activities, shopping, parks and beaches. The Wellness Concierge can arrange activities through local philanthropic partner Travel2Change that offer the opportunity to give back to the Island, including a bicycle tour and beach cleanup, a kayak and snorkel excursion to restore Kāneʻohe Bay, and reviving a historical fishpond, among other off-the-beaten-path adventures. Renew also offers a weekly series of complimentary rejuvenating activities, including astrology readings, mini aromatherapy facials and beach yoga.
Since holistic wellness includes taking care of the environment, Renew will eliminate use of single-use plastics throughout the property. A new retail shop provides eco-friendly travel products and local mementos, including reef-safe Salt & Stone sunscreen and deodorant, local Oshan Essentials skincare, Hanalei Company beauty products, Mānoa chocolates, Kaimana Ahi Tuna Jerky and Renew branded merchandise.
For guests planning to visit the beach, which is a one-minute walk from the hotel, the front desk provides chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear and other beach essentials. In the evening at the hotel’s bar, reFresh, craft cocktails are prepared with local spirits and ingredients, including God Save The Bees, made with Old Pali Road whiskey, local Mānoa Honey, angostura bitters and orange bitters, and Coconut Water Colada, made with Kula Organic Rum, Mahina Clement Coconut Liqueur, house-made fresh sour, pineapple cubes and coconut water. Before bedtime, guests can visit the lobby’s reLax Station to create miniature bags of local lavender to enhance sleep.
Guestrooms are stocked with ecological and natural products from Korres cosmetics. Workout kits, which include resistance bands, weights, ab rollers, mini Pilates balls, Perfect Pushup rotating handles and yoga mats, are available in-room by request. Peloton Bikes also will be available soon by request. Before departure, guests receive a small jar of Mānoa Honey as a gift from housekeeping to thank them for their stay and support of local businesses.
To celebrate Renew’s redesign debut, guests can take advantage of the “Rediscover Renew” travel package, which includes 20% off the best flexible rates, $50 lobby credit (valid at the reVitalize coffee bar, reFuel grab-and-go, reFresh bar or retail shop), and two drinks from reFresh bar.
